Hogan's Farm: E-commerce With an Ordering Portal
A seasonal online shop and a custom ordering portal for allocations, delivery routes and farm collections, built to replace WordPress and WooCommerce.
The Opportunity
Hogan’s Farm at Charlesfort Estate in Kells takes more than 2,000 Christmas orders in about two months. The previous site was WordPress and WooCommerce. Pages were slow, day-to-day edits were awkward, and the shop had no proper way to run the farm’s own rules: weight-band limits, county delivery routes, and a collection system that keeps the yard moving.
What We Built
- A fast seasonal storefront for whole birds, crowns, boned and rolled joints, hams and the farm shop range, with guides for size and cooking
- Allocation by weight band, so a size closes at its cap and opens again when the farm raises it, instead of pretending stock is known in September
- Checkout that only offers delivery dates the vans can cover, across the twelve Leinster counties, plus collection at the farm from 21 to 24 December
- Pages for the farm shop, café, recipes, awards and stockists, so the site is the farm all year, not only the Christmas rush
- A private ordering portal for the team: allocations, a live packing board, order lookup and collection check-in
- Reporting the WooCommerce export could not give: sales by cut and weight, orders by county, and volume by collection or delivery day
The Results
- Customers choose a collection day instead of joining a queue in the yard
- Delivery dates follow van capacity, so one December date is no longer the only option on screen
- The farm changes caps, routes and orders in one place, without working around WooCommerce
- The public site carries the shop, the story and the visit, and the portal carries the season
